We are excited to continue with our goal from last year!  Staff have been working hard to develop their own understanding of the history of Indigenous People and the local First Nation (Musqueam) to support student learning. 

As we look at the data below, we can see that our students will benefit from our focus on developing Indigenous and First Nations understanding.  While students are learning in their classrooms, we are also committed to learning together as a school by including more whole-school opportunities and working towards a common goal to support belonging.

Revisiting our Student Survey from July 2023…

1. 70% of students were able to indicate that "Spul'u'kwuks" means, 'place of bubbling water'.

2. 80% of students surveyed know that we live on the traditional territory of the Musqueam people.

3. 49% of students surveyed could name one or more uses of the land and water, such as fishing and living.

4. 53% of students surveyed know that the language group of the Indigenous people of this land is "hən̓ q̓ əmin̓ əm̓".
