In February, we celebrated Pink Shirt Day with an assembly and a Family Teams activity.  

During our assembly, we:

• connected the idea of Pink Shirt Day with our school focus on belonging and connectedness

• celebrated the ways we showed kindness on Have a Heart Day

• shared where our staff and students feel that we are doing a good job and where we feel we can be better

• reinforced our bucket campaign to notice kindness in our school

In our multi-age Family Teams, we celebrated the kindness that we have been observing in our school.  Kindness is something that makes both others and ourselves feel warm, and spreads like the warmth of sunshine.

Students received a strip of yellow paper and wrote something someone did for them that was kind and how it felt or, something kind they did for others and what that felt like. By having students think about positive feelings associated with acts of kindness, we are encouraging them to recognize that they can help others and themselves at the same time.
